This system was especially developed for the commonly used salt-tracer-dilution method. This measuring methode is used in high gradient channels. At such locations it is impossible to perform measurements with the current meter because of the high turbulent flow. Additionally QTRACE can be utilized on rivers without well-defined profile. A typical application for QTRACE is discharge measurement in alpine regions.
