The image sequence of the video camera shows the sintering process as a super time lapse over 1 year of measurement operation

Task
The drainage of tunnels can involve considerable effort for tunnel operators. The drainage pipes often calcify in a short time and have to be cleaned at great expense. The latest research attempt to prevent minerals from settling in the drainage pipes by adding special substances to the drainage system. Precise knowledge of the chemical/physical constituents of the tunnel water is the fundamental prerequisite for such a project, and this should be done throughout the year if possible, as the composition of the tunnel water can vary with the seasons.
Technical solution
Logotronic supplies special measuring stations, so-called sintering stations, for measuring basic water parameters in tunnel water. It is usually measured:
- Flow rate
- pH value
- Redox potential
- Conductivity
- Temperature
The measuring stations are installed directly in the tunnel, often directly in the drainage system, and are battery-operated. Extreme operating and environmental conditions often prevail in tunnels, such as permanent humidity, high salt content especially in winter due to winter road maintenance, maintenance-free operation due to infrequent access possibilities to the measuring point. The stations therefore only consist of high-quality, robust and well-tested components. The measuring stations transmit the measured values online to the monitoring network center via mobile radio.
Optionally, the sintering station can be equipped with a video camera, with which any sintering processes can also be recorded visually and compared with the chemical/physical measurements.
Advantages for the customer
- Precise statements about the composition of the tunnel water
- Maximum availability thanks to the use of high-quality components
- Battery operation minimizes the effort involved in installing the stations
