Temperature and conductivity measurement, Model 107
The Model 107 is ideal for water level measurement at groundwater monitoring sites. Furthermore, it can be used to measure temperature profiles and profiles of electrical conductivity. The conductivity and temperature can be read on the integrated LCD display. The measuring range extends from 0 to 80000µS/cm and offers an accuracy of at least 5% or 100µS/cm. No sampling of groundwater is required for the measurement; it is performed in parallel with the level measurement. The temperature can be measured in the range from -15°C to +50°C. The groundwater level as well as the position of the probe can be read on the durable measuring tape made of plastic (PVDF). The tape measure is available in lengths up to 300m with cable drum. Furthermore, the tape measure offers laser marking with millimeter graduation. The electrical conductivity depends on the salinity of the water. The higher the content of positively and negatively charged ions in groundwater, the more conductive it becomes. Therefore, measuring the conductivity is a good way to estimate the total mineral content.Measure electrical conductivity, temperature and level with a dipmeter
Electrical conductivity in groundwater
Anthropogenic inputs of calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, chloride, sulfate, nitrate, and acidifying substances to groundwater lead to an increase in electrical conductivity. In addition, wastewater from the chemical industry and leachate from municipal and industrial landfills can lead to a significant increase in electrical conductivity in groundwater.
The probe is made of stainless steel and is waterproof up to 300m. The measuring point is placed close to the probe tip to minimize water displacement during the measuring process. Conductivity measurement is performed with integrated electrodes made of platinum. The measured values are recalculated to a measuring temperature of 25°C and can thus be compared with other results. The temperature sensor is integrated in the tip of the probe and provides exact measurement results from -15°C to +50°C. The probe as a whole acts as a heat sink, which is why it should be completely submerged in water for more accurate measurement results. The connection between the tape measure and the probe is designed for easy changeover to replace the probe one at a time should this become necessary.Durable stainless steel measuring probe
